Rare Gas Production

We design and build the largest air separation plants in the world therefore it is no coincidence that we are also one of the largest primary producers of rare gases in the world.

It takes around ten million cubic metres of air to obtain one cubic metre of Xenon. A crude blend of rare gas mixture is collected shipped to our purification centre for rare gases where it is then separated, refined and purified up to grades of 99.999% purity.

You can rely on us to provide you with a reliable primary source for your rare gas requirements.

Rare & Other Gases - Lighting

Traditionally, Neon, Krypton and Xenon have been predominantly used in lighting technology as lamp filling gases. With a rich crimson light produced when Neon gas discharges it has become a household word in connection with advertising signs – the increasing market for the manufacture of flat panel displays continues to demand relatively high volumes of this the most abundant of these three rare gases.

The development of energy conservation lamps has increased the demand for Krypton whilst the same drive for energy conservation has further extended the use of this gas as a more efficient insulating medium for the filling of multiple glazed window units.

Xenon’s discharge with its high resolution “daylight” like spectrum has made it important in the production of high quality lamps for floodlights, film and television lighting and increasingly for automobile headlamps.

Rare & Other Gases - Laser and Medical

Primarily Neon but also increasingly Krypton and Xenon are being used in laser technology whilst Xenon is used for computer topography and is recognised as an effective inhalation anaesthetic

Rare & Other Gases - Space Technology

Xenon demand is strong and growing in the space industry for use in satellites. With our existing plant capacities and substantial reserves, we have carefully positioned ourselves to help you with your requirements for rare gases.
